One of the most historic features of London, the River Thames, is little more than a mile away. There are regular river boats to Hampton Court, Richmond and Charring Cross with many charming riverside pubs along the way.
Of historic interest are the many stately homes in the area, these include Hampton Court Palace and it's famous maze which is less than a half hour drive away, also within easy driving or short train journey distance are Ham House, Clandon Park, Polesdon Lacy and, of course, Windsor Castle.
London has some of the finest museums in the world, three of the best, the Science, Natural History and Imperial War Museums can be found in South Kensington, a journey of less than 20 minutes on the underground.
For the young,or young at heart, the Chessington World of Adventure is less than a fifteen minute drive away. Another of the UK's finest theme parks, Thorpe Park, is within reasonable driving distance.
There are plenty of sporting facilities in the area, there are golf courses, horse riding stables, gymnasiums and, of course, tennis all within easy reach. Wimbledon Stadium regularly hosts greyhound or stock car racing. For the horse racing affecionardos Sandown Park, Kempton Park and, the home of the Derby, Epsom Park race courses are all close by. Because of it's location Honey Cottage is very popular among tennis fans so you should book early to avoid disappointment if you wish to visit the Wimbleon Tennis Championships which occurs during June..
The nightlife in the area is excellent there are many fine restaurants of all cuisine's to suit every taste. There are also many traditional public houses offering fine food and good beer at reasonable prices. Many of these regularly feature jazz, rock, or folk groups.
